Johann Matthias HASE (1684-1742)

Publisher: Homann, (Nuremberg), c.1721-1750

18 x 31 cm.

Very rare 1742 printed map by J.M.Hase [a German historical geographer, mathematician, astronomer, and cartographer] – referring to the geography of the Greek Kingdoms which formed out of Alexander the Greats Empire at the time of the Roman victories over Antiochus and Philipp [ca. 188 BC]
Noteworthy are the now much enlarged size of the Roman State, the much reduced Carthago state, and the rise of many small states and Kingdoms on the Greek mainland, in Asia minor [esp. Pergamos,Armenia, etc.] and in the northern parts of Persia, with a large Greek-Baktrian Kingdom east.

Edited by Homann, the leading German map editor of the first half of the 18th century .

Apart from little soiling in margins in very good condition !
