EN TURQUIE, EN PERSE ET AUX INDES.
TAVERNIER, Jean Baptıste
Rouen, 1713, Tome II
Beautiful work by one of the most famous travelers of his time, J.-B. Tavernier.
After having visited most of Europe, he made six trips to India, where he amassed a considerable fortune, thanks among other things, to the trade he made in precious stones.
When the Edict of Nantes was revoked, he went to Switzerland, then to Germany where he was appointed director of the Compagnie des Indes. On his departure for Muscovy, he fell ill and died in Copenhagen.
Best known as the man who brought the Blue Diamond (HOPE) back to Europe.
His six voyages took him to Turkey, Persia, India, Sumatra and Java.
This book discusses his travels in Turkey and Persia with a description of Persia, political and historical as well as a description of the road from Isfahan to Ormus –
