This work, which covers the years 1649-1688 of the stagnation period that started with the defeat of the Ottomans in Vienna and continued with the withdrawal from Buda and Belgrade, deals with the period of Avcı Mehmed (Mehmed IV), known for his fondness for hunting, and Suleiman III, who was placed on the throne after his overthrow. It is also one of the oldest sources containing the messianic story of Sebatai Sevi of Izmir, who recruited millions of Jews and Muslims to his followers in 1666. This work, which also includes the engravings of Sultan Süleyman and Avcı Mehmed, is important in terms of describing the Ottoman palace and state life through the eyes of a westerner. Osmanlı’nın Viyana yenilgisiyle başlayan Buda ve Belgrad’dan çekilmesiyle devam eden duraklama döneminin 1649-1688 yıllarını kapsayan bu eser, ava düşkünlüğüyle bilinen Avcı Mehmed (IV. Mehmed) ve onun devrilmesiyle tahta oturtulan III. Süleyman devrini ele alıyor.Ayrıca, 1666 yılında milyonlarca yahudi ve müslümanı muridleri arasına katan İzmirli Sebatai Sevi’nin mesihlik öyküsünü içeren en eski kaynaklardan biri olma özelliği taşıyor. Sultan Süleyman ve Avcı Mehmed’in gravürlerini de kapsayan bu eser, Osmanlı saray ve devlet yaşamını bir batılı gözüyle anlatması açısından önem taşıyor. (Erkan Çelebi)
