A beautiful view of the famous Bosphorus River, with the cosmopolitan city of Constantinople (Istanbul) hugging it’s shores during the late 19th century. The print is in excellent recent hand colouring.
John Douglas Woodward (1846-1924) was an American painter and illustrator who specialized in landscapes. He gained popularity in the United States through his illustrations in popular travel journals where he would show Americans vivid scenes from Europe, Egypt, the Levant and the Holy Land.
