Folium CCLXXIIII is printed at upper right corner of sheet.<\/p>\n<p>This large woodcut from the 15th century is a valuable pearl of the early prints. Schedel is best known for the Schedel&#8217;sche Weltchronik. This large piece was published on 12 July 1493 in Nuremberg as an incunabulum. Lots of maps from this chronicle showed, for the first time in history, entire cities and countries; until then, there was not so much known about geography and cartography. An incunabulum or cradle book is a book that was typeset with individual letters and printed in Europe before 1 January 1501.
