This incredible panoramic view gives a spectacular image of Istanbul, the great capital of the Ottoman Empire. The major landmarks of Istanbul are all plainly visible.<\/p>\n
The Dutch painter and traveler, Cornelius de Bruyn, traveled to Constantinople and the empire between 1677 and 1684. All the spires, minarets, mosques and especially the Aya Sophia are depicted here and the Bosphorus is filled with a variety of ships and boats. De Bruyn’s account of his travels through the Ottoman empire between 1677 & 1684 was profusely illustrated with engravings made from his drawings and sketches, which are noted for their objectivity and exactness. Printed on 2 joined sheets, as issued.<\/p>\n
Cornelis de Bruyn , 1652-c.1726 was a Dutch portrait painter and traveler.<\/p>\n
